What is embroidery?

Embroidery is a textile technique that involves decorating fabric by stitching designs onto it using threads. It can be done by hand or, more commonly in the fashion industry, with highly specialized embroidery machines. This technique adds texture, depth, and ornamental value to garments and textiles, and it ranges from minimalist details to elaborate, richly textured motifs.

Broderie Anglaise

One of the most iconic forms of embroidery is Broderie Anglaise, also known in Italy as Sangallo embroidery or eyelet embroidery. This style combines traditional embroidery stitches with small, precisely cut holes (eyelets) in the fabric, often arranged in floral or geometric patterns. The eyelets are typically finished with stitching around the edges, creating a lace-like effect that is lightweight, breathable, and romantic—ideal for summer wear, lingerie, and elegant apparel.
